Very solid, this is my first simplex safe and its been very good, I wish it had a way to implement a cable lock not just bolt it down. Only other item I did not opt for so not a product issue but did want to note, it does not have the gas struts and the lid is heavy. Not a big deal for me, I have it in a drawer and I can still grab and open it ok, but wanted to note that aspect. Wish they had this as an optional accessory.
This works great for my Taurus Judge, 3″ with 4 in barrel and I can still sit my EDC which is an LCP Max beside it if needed.
I looked at many of different models from the Bio to other simplex and everything in between. Read a lot of reviews and for me, this one gave me the security and size at a cost point that was attractive.

I decided I wanted an American made pistol safe large enough to hold my 6” Colt Python as well as a smaller gun. I wanted a reliable, quick access box that I could slide under my bed or that could be placed in my SUV. While it’s too large to slide under the seat of my vehicle, it can be discreetly put on the floor between the second and third seat or in the cargo area. Plus, there are mounting holes in the bottom of the box that I think I could send a 1/4” steel cable through to lock it in place, if I wanted.
I considered the 23lb. Brute XD, but ended up getting the 13lb. Top Draw XL. I was delighted to get the 10% St. Patrick’s Day discount and free shipping when I added a $9.99 Custom Silicone Gun Cleaning Cloth. The order communication was great and I promptly received the product. It’s extremely well built and solid and feels very secure. The instructions were very good. I’m comfortable with the locking mechanism and feel I could quickly access my firearm in the dark.
I also considered the Chinese-made Sentry 2-Gun Safe with biometric opening mechanism, automatic gas strut door and interior lighting. The V-line Top Draw XL has none of these fancy features, but that’s fine with me because less can go wrong with it. The Top Draw XL is just a well-built American made product that’s simple by design. I will certainly consider other V-line products, such as the Shotgun Case, in the future. By the way, I also like the fact that V-line supports the National Rifle Association!

Holds 2- pistols and 2- boxes of ammo well. Not as heavy as the Brute XD, but is a nice manageable size for my needs. Really like the mechanical lock! Glad to not have any keys or batteries. Works great every time.

Great safe just as expected. Was glad to see an option available with the moveability of the top draw, but bigger and with a handle. The handle helps as the unit is a bit top heavy, and also add’s extra security around the lock. Can easily fit two pistols in this safe. Great finish. The lock is simple, smooth and safe. Good old fashion American craftsmanship.
