Kentucky Outdoorsman is a family owned business established in June 2004. Owner Steve Hart has been an outdoor and hunting enthusiast his entire life and grew up working in the manufacturing industry. In the early 2000’s Steve recognized a need in southeastern Kentucky for a retail store that could cater to the needs of the outdoorsman young and old, beginner and seasoned, and everything in between. Along with his wife Vickie, and sons Tyler and Travis, the Hart family has set out on an endeavor to make Kentucky Outdoorsman the premier hunting and outdoor store in southeastern Kentucky.
With a group of employees that share that same passion, Kentucky Outdoorsman has always tried to create a family atmosphere where anyone walking in the door feels welcomed and hopefully leaves feeling part of the family. We try to always go the extra mile in customer service to ensure our loyal patrons feel appreciated and acknowledged. We offer a lifetime warranty on all firearms new or used at no extra cost to the customer. As Steve has always said “if you have a problem, then we have a problem.” We know that we do not always get it right, but that motto is something that we strive for every day. Welcome. Seriously. Welcome. After visiting tons of gun stores and ranges it became apparent that the firearms industry does a pretty lousy job of making folks feel welcome. I was a gun guy and saw myself and others treated with indifference when I entered their stores. This made me sad because I loved sport shooting, I loved guns and I loved the 2nd Amendment.
I was determined to bring the shooting sports back to how I remembered it as a child. Exciting. Community. Fun guns to look at with good fun people. I'm proud to say Openrange is the most inclusive sport shooting facility in America. Our staff is dedicated to making your needs and desires our goal. Our world-class facility is located in Crestwood, Ky. just 10 minutes outside of Louisville. The range, gun shop and reball arena provides an environment that’s fun for beginners and supports serious shooters, or just anyone who wants to have a blast.
Five 100 yard rifle stations and twelve pistol stations, all featuring programmable targetry, a hygienic environment with safety as a top priority. Openrange also functions as a fully-licensed gun shop, complete with a Conference and Training Center. The shop offers rentals as well as ultrasonic cleaning services.
