The Slide-Away is V-Line’s new American made multi-purpose heavy duty security case. The Slide-Away is constructed of heavy duty 12 ga. steel with a rugged tactical black powder coating. The smooth operating large pullout drawer sits on ball bearing assisted slides. The drawer is large enough to hold an ipad style tablet or two 1911 type firearms with room to spare for extra magazines. The Slide-Away is versatile enough to mount underneath a desktop or in a small area as long as there is about 4.25″ of clearance. It comes standard with a Quick Release Mounting Bracket for both bottom and top mounting. Optional Full Tray is available for securing and organizing jewelry and other small sized valuables.
Designed and manufactured in the USA. Some lock components may be from outside the United States.
This is a California-approved firearms safety device that meets the requirements of California Penal Code Section 12088 and the regulations issued thereunder.

I have been using this safe now for FIVE YEARS and I absolutely LOVE it! The V-Line products are so well built, and the simplicity, and reliability of the mechanical Simplex locks just can’t be beat in a home defense scenario.
We are able to keep 2 FULL-SIZE pistols, a couple spare mags, and some small miscellaneous valuables in this small, yet sturdy safe. Fits perfectly bolted to the nightstand. May be in the market for a second one soon…

1-year review: Simple and Efficient, highly recommend. If you have children or friends with children you really need to lock your weapons. This safe is plenty secure and very quick to access.
The drawer easily holds my sub-compact and compact pistol with extra magazines and a small EDC flashlight (Just for reference, the weapons are a Shadow Systems MR920 Combat (same footprint as a Glock 19 w/ threaded barrel) and SIG P-238 with an extended magazine.
I’ve got it mounted above a sturdy wooden shelf. The drawer is pretty heavy, so do make sure it is mounted to something sturdy. I can still store things on top of it with full access.
The drawer slides open and closed easily.
Mine included foam divider inserts, which made for a very clean install, each weapon and mag with its own compartment and no metal-on-metal contact. If you are not that particular you may be able to fit more in there.
The included mounting base plate makes install easy, and it uses basic thumb screw knobs to switch the install shelf from top to bottom (allowing it to be mounted under the shelf or on top of the shelf).
The simplex lock has worked flawlessly for the last year, accessing it twice a day, almost every day. It does not come with numbers labeled on the buttons, which makes sense for security, but I used a small stencil set and painted them on. Purely personal preference.
Like any safe, it only deters the ignorant or undetermined. I have everything locked up to ensure my children or their friends (of whom I haven’t been able to train) don’t get into things they shouldn’t.

I purchased the Slide-Away Heavy-Duty Large Capacity Handgun Safe. I received the item in good time, and it was well packaged. The safe is of good quality and sturdy. The black finish inside and out is well done. In my current configuration I am able to fit a Full Size semi-automatic handgun and a Revolver that is 9.50 inches in length placed at an angle. I like the simplex combination lock that works well. I also appreciate that the safe is made in USA.

I love this safe. It’s the third V-Line I have purchased. I have two of these. I love the manual lock so no worries about batteries or keys. The ability to press combo buttons at the same time makes for that many more possible combination. I can open this safe in seconds and that is critical for a gun safe. The slide out feature of this model is fabulous. I have the safe secured to my table so it’s not walking away easily. This thing is heavy duty and worth every penny.

I like this safe very much. I wanted something with a mechanical lock and this fit the bill perfectly. The only issue I have had is it the last inch of pushing the drawer in is a bit hard due to the slide mechanism but I suspect it will get easier with wear.

Very happy with the Slide Away safe. The only change I would suggest is another 1/2 inch in both height and width. That would allow storage for four full size handguns when the full tray is installed.

Is it cheap? No. But if you want the best hand gun safe on the market, this is it. VERY heavy duty. Mounts either top or under. I have two. Both work flawlessly. Buy a China made if you want. I’ll take V-line made in the USA.

Very Heavy Duty! At first I was a little skeptical about a slide drawer in a safe, but once this product arrived I knew I had made the right choice. This safe is awesome. The design of the safe with the anti-pry edges around the drawer is genius. Plenty of room for firearms and valuables as well as a heavy duty bracket for easy mounting. Also small enough to mount just about anywhere. And, the best part is, it is made in the U.S.A. !!! Great product and will be recommending V-Line.

This thing is one solid heavy beast! Plenty of room for guns, ammo, magazines, etc. Great Simplex lock, super solid and works perfectly. Highly recommended! The included mounting base works upside or right side up, big plus.
I only wish it had a carrying handle for taking to the range or traveling. Will add another star when they add a carrying handle.

Great little safe. Lock is secure. Actually secure. Other safes come with insecure tubular or wafer locks. This one comes with a tried and true simplex combination lock, which is secure and easy to use. No batteries to fuss with. Just works. I wish it came with the optional top tray though. But overall a great little safe. I hope in future they make different sizes. One big enough to hold four pistols would be perfect.

My wife and I are very happy with our purchase of the V-line Slide away safe. I did a ton of research online and decided V-line was the way to go. My wife got it for me for my birthday. I thought the front access and drawer that slide out was better access than the opening from the top. Plus it seemed more versatile with the mounting plate. Currently I just have next to the bed on a shelf. It is discreet but does have a nice fit and finish if you needed to have it out and in plain view. Very solid construction and slide works perfect. It does pop out an inch once you put in your code which is nice and makes access easy. I also decided to go with the simple mechanical simplex lock after thorough research and that has been perfect and works great. I can’t say anything negative about this purchase and believe this safe is well worth the money. Love it

I don’t put my carry guns in the big safe downstairs so I needed something safe, dependable and easily accessed. I wanted a mechanical lock after I read so many reviews about electronic locks being finicky. V-Line was highly recommended and now I can see why. Excellent fit and finish and no problem mounting it under a closet shelf. I chose the Slide-away because I didn’t want to have to reach into a box. The drawer slides out full length and you can see and have access to the entire contents of the safe. Very convenient for grabbing one of my guns whenever I leave home. Heavy duty and well made. No regrets.
